Joe Buck is set to remain the voice of ESPN’s biggest football broadcasts for years to come.
The veteran play-by-play announcer has reportedly agreed to a six-year, $108 million contract extension with ESPN. The deal would keep Buck in the Monday Night Football booth and secure his role through the network’s upcoming Super Bowl coverage.
Buck has worked alongside Troy Aikman since their years at Fox, and the pair have become one of American sports television’s most recognizable broadcast teams. Their move to ESPN helped give Monday Night Football a high-profile reset, with strong audiences following.
The reported agreement also underscores how valuable live sports rights have become to television networks. Broadcasters are increasingly treated as part of the product itself, especially for NFL coverage that draws massive national audiences.
