Mohamed Salah delivered a spectacular hat-trick for Trabzonspor on Saturday night, driving the Black Sea club into a 4-0 lead over Galatasaray in one of the standout matches of the Süper Lig season so far.
The Egyptian forward opened the scoring in the fourth minute at Papara Park, carrying the ball forward on a rapid counterattack before beating goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır. Trabzonspor then doubled their advantage in the 39th minute when Salah turned provider, setting up Saviolo for the hosts’ second goal.
Salah takes over the game
Just before halftime, Salah struck again. A loose ball fell his way after Trabzonspor pressed Galatasaray high up the pitch, and he finished calmly to make it 3-0 in the 44th minute. The scoreline sent the home side into the break with full control of the contest and put Galatasaray under intense pressure.
Salah completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute. Trabzonspor won possession as Galatasaray tried to build an attack, and Salah carried the ball through midfield before racing clear and finishing one-on-one for his third goal of the night and Trabzonspor’s fourth.
Live match reporting from Trabzon listed Salah’s goals in the 4th, 44th and 80th minutes, with Saviolo scoring the other goal after an assist from Salah. The third strike completed an extraordinary individual performance: three goals and one assist against the league leaders.
A huge night for Trabzonspor
The match also marked a major early test for new Trabzonspor head coach Thomas Reis, who took charge this week. His side entered the fixture looking to respond after an uneven start to the campaign, while Galatasaray arrived in Trabzon at the top end of the table.
Trabzonspor’s intensity in transition repeatedly caused problems for the visitors. Salah’s pace was central to that approach, particularly on the first and fourth goals, when he exploited space behind Galatasaray’s defensive line.
Galatasaray had chances of their own, including an effort that struck the woodwork in the first half, but goalkeeper André Onana and the Trabzonspor defense kept the visitors scoreless through the closing stages.
As the match entered its final minutes, Trabzonspor remained 4-0 ahead, with Salah at the center of a night likely to be remembered as one of the defining performances of his early spell in Turkish football.
