The U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund has approved a new round of investments focused on energy resilience, critical minerals, telecommunications and emerging technologies.
The U.S. Treasury said the fund’s board backed several projects intended to strengthen supply chains and support Ukraine’s recovery. One of the approved steps is a joint investment platform with Ukrainian company BGV Group Management aimed at critical-mineral development.
Fund expands beyond its first investment
The latest approvals build on the fund’s first investment earlier this year. The structure was created under the U.S.-Ukraine agreement signed in April 2025 and is designed to channel capital into projects viewed as strategically important to both countries.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the new round showed broader investor support for projects tied to Ukraine’s energy system and mineral resources. Ukrainian officials separately emphasized the role of telecommunications and technology investments in the fund’s wider mandate.
Energy security remains central
Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has faced repeated disruption during the war, making resilience projects a major policy priority. Critical-mineral investment is also strategically important because governments and manufacturers are seeking more diversified sources of materials used in batteries, electronics and defense supply chains.
The Treasury announcement did not provide a single aggregate value for the new approvals. The eventual financial impact will depend on how quickly individual projects move from board approval to implementation.
