Four astronauts returned to Earth aboard a SpaceX capsule after completing an eight-month mission on the International Space Station.
The crew splashed down safely after departing the orbital laboratory and completing the final re-entry sequence.
Eight months of research in orbit
The astronauts carried out scientific experiments, station maintenance and technology demonstrations during their mission.
International Space Station missions continue to serve as preparation for longer-duration human exploration beyond low Earth orbit.
NASA and its partners are also preparing for the eventual transition from the ISS to commercial space stations in the next decade.
