
Asian equities were mixed but broadly firmer on Thursday as investors absorbed the Federal Reserve’s first rate increase in more than three years.
The U.S. dollar climbed to a seven-week high as short-term Treasury yields rose and markets increased bets on another rate move later this year. Japan’s Nikkei advanced, while major Chinese and Hong Kong indexes traded lower.
Attention is now shifting to the Bank of England and Bank of Japan, with investors watching for signs that high energy costs could push more central banks toward tighter policy.
