Inter Beat Parma 3-0 as De Bruyne Double Lifts Napoli Past Frosinone

Inter stayed top of Serie A with a 3-0 win over Parma, while Kevin De Bruyne scored twice as Napoli beat Frosinone by the same score.

Inter Milan strengthened their position at the top of Serie A with a 3-0 home win over Parma, while Napoli returned to winning form as Kevin De Bruyne scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Frosinone. The two results shaped Saturday’s Italian league program in different ways: Inter looked controlled and efficient after the international break, while Napoli used the match to steady themselves after a difficult run. Inter moved to 16 points from six matches, while Napoli climbed to sixth with 10.

Inter settled the match early

Inter scored three times in the first 31 minutes. Petar Sucic opened the scoring, Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty and Marcus Thuram added the third.

The early burst effectively ended Parma’s hopes of taking something from the game and allowed Inter to manage the second half with less risk.

Chivu wanted a clean restart

Inter coach Cristian Chivu said the three-week break created uncertainty because players returned from different national-team environments. His team, however, showed little rust.

The performance reflected the depth and structure that have made Inter one of Serie A’s most consistent teams.

Parma’s new coach had a difficult debut

Alberto Gilardino took charge after Carlos Cuesta’s departure and immediately faced the league leaders. Parma struggled to control Inter’s movement between midfield and defense.

For a new coach, the result matters less than how quickly the team can absorb tactical changes before more winnable fixtures arrive.

Calhanoglu remains central to Inter’s control

Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty was only one part of his contribution. His role at the base of midfield helps Inter manage tempo, switch play and protect the defense.

Against Parma, the Turkish international again showed why he remains one of the most important players in the team’s structure.

Napoli needed a response

Napoli entered the Frosinone match under more pressure. Recent results had created questions around form and attacking sharpness.

The 3-0 win did not solve every problem, but it provided a more convincing platform for the next phase of the season.

De Bruyne scored twice

Kevin De Bruyne was the decisive figure. The Belgian scored twice, including from the penalty spot, and repeatedly influenced the match from advanced midfield positions.

His arrival has given Napoli another way to create chances when opponents defend deep. He can play the final pass, shoot from distance or arrive late in the penalty area.

Noa Lang added another goal

Noa Lang also scored, helping Napoli create a comfortable margin. The attacking variety will encourage the coaching staff after a period when the team’s output had become inconsistent.

Frosinone struggled to cope once Napoli increased the tempo and moved the ball more quickly through midfield.

McTominay’s return drew attention

Scott McTominay returned after a heart-related health issue and received a strong reception. Even without dominating the match, his presence was one of the emotional moments of the evening.

Player health remains more important than match availability, and Napoli will likely continue to manage his minutes carefully.

The top of Serie A remains competitive

Inter’s 16 points keep them in a strong position, but Roma, Lazio, Juventus and other contenders remain within range. Early-season gaps can change quickly in Italy’s compressed schedule.

Napoli, meanwhile, still has ground to make up. The Frosinone win matters because it stops negative momentum before it becomes a larger problem.

Different wins, different meanings

For Inter, the victory was a demonstration of stability. For Napoli, it was a recovery performance. Both teams scored three goals, but the context was different.

As Serie A moves deeper into autumn, squad depth and European commitments will make rotation increasingly important. Saturday’s results showed that both clubs still have enough attacking quality to shape the title and Champions League races.

Squad rotation will become more important from here

Both Inter and Napoli are entering the period of the season when domestic league matches overlap with European competition. That increases the value of players who can change matches without starting every week. Inter’s early control against Parma allowed Chivu to manage the second half without excessive physical stress, while Napoli’s comfortable margin gave the coaching staff room to protect players returning from injury or international duty.

The next challenge for both clubs is maintaining this level when opponents are stronger and recovery time is shorter. Serie A’s title race often rewards teams that avoid dropping points immediately after European games, making squad depth as important as the strongest starting eleven.
