U.S. authorities are investigating suspected cyber breaches involving two foreign-flagged oil tankers that were sailing toward the United States.
The FBI and Coast Guard boarded the vessels after reports that their computer networks had been compromised. Officials said there were no known disruptions to navigation, crew safety or environmental systems, and the ships’ crews cooperated with investigators.
The incidents highlight growing concern over the vulnerability of commercial shipping, where operational technology and digital navigation systems can create new targets for cyberattacks.
