Major European companies are expected to report aggregate third-quarter earnings growth of about 21%, according to LSEG estimates cited by Reuters.
The forecast would mark one of the strongest quarterly profit performances for the STOXX 600 in the past four years.
Energy is doing much of the heavy lifting
European energy companies are expected to post particularly strong profit growth as higher oil and gas prices lift revenue.
Excluding energy, projected earnings growth falls to a more moderate level, showing how concentrated the improvement is.
Investors will be watching companies including ASML and Ericsson next week for a clearer view of whether the earnings momentum can continue.
