China issued new policy guidelines aimed at curbing speculative investment in advanced technology while expanding support for artificial intelligence, computing infrastructure and industrial innovation.
The document calls for AI to remain “safe, reliable and controllable” as Beijing accelerates its push for technological self-sufficiency.
Support and discipline at the same time
The guidelines call for more investment in AI theory, chips, data and computing power, along with national pilot bases for industrial applications.
At the same time, local authorities are being warned against excessive expansion and “swarm-like” investment in fashionable sectors.
The policy reflects Beijing’s effort to capture AI-driven growth without repeating speculative excesses seen in other industries.
